What To Do This Weekend - Enjoy a Car Show, a Family Fun Day and Thomas Amusements!

Well.... as far as most kids are concerned, there is no real question about what they wanna do this weekend: Thomas Amusements is in town, and for the last time this Season! So, buckle up, accept fate, head over to Zellars on Stavanger, watch the kids play on all the rides that scare the beejees outta you, then insist they accompany you to Costco for all your troubles ;-)

Or  not..... you do have plenty of other options this weekend:

  • Saturday brings us the Ken Proudfoot Potato Festival at MUN Botanical Garden (and if you know me, any excuse is a good excuse to go there!)  Sorry folks - I received notice that this has been cancelled.
  • We also have out First Annual Mini Day in St. John's on Saturday! There will be a Mini Car Show and a Family Fun Day - check it out and drool over the cute cars!
  • Sunday brings the 24th Annual RBC Rennie's River Duck Race and Free Family Fun Day - entertainment includes Red Rocket Amusements' Face painting, Balloon twisting & Sparky the bouncy castle!
  • PLUS all the other usual, super-fun options: GEO Centre Movies; Fluvarium Kids Program (Dabblers and Divers is the them this month); Farmer's Market; Family fun Programs at MUN Botanical Garden; St. John's Kid/Hava Java Playdates; Clovelly Stables Family Sundays (pony rides!); Flea Markets at Jack Byrne Arena and CLB Armoury; and the bi-weekly Mt. Pearl Things & Craft Market.

I want to take a moment as well to point out that Ronald McDonald House has officially opened! There is a fundraiser this coming Wednesday (the Ladies Shopping Party), to support this home-away-from-home for families of Janeway patients. Get a head start on some Christmas shopping and pampering and support a great cause at the same time :-) You will also want to take note of the Clay Cafe Potion Bottles and Cauldron class on Tuesday (they have a number of upcoming classes in October geared towards Halloween) - see below or visit the calendar for even more listings. And Wednesday is not only Free Admission at The Rooms, but as the first Wednesday of the month, it will also be Admission by Donation at MUN Botanical Garden! Busy week!

Here's the complete line up for the coming week....Remember you can always find more details in the calendar!
..... In the meantime, have a great weekend :-)

  1. Thanks for more great ideas as usual!
I just wanted to let you know that they have cancelled the potato festival at the botanic gardens this year, presumably due to Leslie.

  2. Thank you for the update! I added that to the calendar a couple of months ago and didn't think to check it - I will do so now :-)
    Thanks again!
